Together with the youngest among us, we celebrated 17 May - the most solemn and joyful day for all Norwegians and their guests

19. May 2026.
The National Day of the Kingdom of Norway was marked by a unique parade of school bands and pupils in front of the Royal Palace, where the Royal Family greeted the participants from the balcony

It was an honour for us to share this unique celebration, filled with song, dance, national costumes, pride, togetherness and joy, on a day made even more beautiful and joyful by its youngest participants - children from all across Norway.

We were hosted by members of the Royal Court in the Palace courtyard, and later by members of the Government at a reception in the Government Guest House.

Yet the strongest impression was that, on that day, we were warmly welcomed as guests by Norwegians throughout the streets of the capital, who proudly shared with us their culture and traditions.
