Temporary stay abroad

In accordance with article 19 of the Law on residence and stay of citizens, citizens of the Republic of Serbia can submit request to the Diplomatic-consular representation for a stay abroad which exceeds 90 days (Form 8).

Together with his/hers request the applicant needs to provide an identification document – passport/ID card.

Registration of temporary stay abroad is also available for minors if they are with their parents abroad. The application is signed by both parents. If one parent is not physically present when the application is being made then it is necessary to provide a written consent by the other parent certified by Norwegian public notary.

De-registration of residence due to emigration from the Republic of Serbia

In accordance with provisions of the Law on residence, the request for de-registering residence due to emigration from the Republic of Serbia can only be submitted personally at the local police station in the Republic of Serbia (Form 3).

Only in extraordinary cases (illness, invalidity, limitation of movement and similar) the request for de-registering residence in the Republic of Serbia can be submitted to the diplomatic-consular representation if the person in question is already abroad and due to justifiable reasons cannot travel to Serbia. Proof of being prevented to travel to the Republic of Serbia considers medical documentation or invalidity translated into Serbian language by a certified translator and/or statement by the applicant about limitations of movement.

Together with the submitted request the applicant should enclose:

  • Original national ID card
  • Original/copy of passport
  • Proof of being prevented to travel
  • Written statement by the application about emigrating from the Republic of Serbia
