Document Certification

Any Embassy of the Republic of Serbia can certify a document in various forms. It is necessary, before making an appointment with the Consular department, to contact a lawyer or public notary to guide you with respect of what kind of document you need to have certified depending on the legal matter at hand.

Prior to your arrival at the scheduled appointment kindly supply us with a draft text of the document that needs to be certified in Serbian Cyrillic language (Microsoft Word) and a copy of the first page of your valid passport or national ID card issued by the Republic of Serbia, as well as, proof of consular fee payment, see the Price list. Once we confirm that your document is in order you may proceed with online booking of an appointment.

LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS TO BE USED ABROAD

Norway and Iceland are signatory parties to the Hague Convention (1961) on abolishing the need of legalizing documents.  In accordance with this Convention, the document certified with an “Apostille” stamp is valid for use in all signatory parties of the Hague Convention.

Certification with the “Apostille” stamp is done exclusively by foreign relevant authorities in the country where the document has been issued, which means that it cannot be performed in the Embassy. Certification of documents issued in the Republic of Serbia with an ”Apostille” stamp is performed by basic courts according to the place of residence of the issuing institution.
