We Are Establishing the First Serbian Library in Iceland and Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Serbian Cultural Centre in Reykjavik
In the presence of distinguished representatives of Icelandic institutions, guests, and members of the Association, this major anniversary was celebrated at Salurinn Hall in Kópavogur, Reykjavik.

The audience was addressed by Ms. Danijela Živojinović, President of the Serbian Cultural Centre, who reflected on the Association’s ten years of work and the efforts invested in preserving the Serbian language and identity through various cultural programmes and events. On that occasion, certificates of appreciation were presented to the Association’s most distinguished members and sponsors.
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia was represented by Marijana Ognjanović, First Counsellor and Consul, who congratulated the Association on its anniversary and underscored the importance of preserving identity and promoting Serbian culture, language, tradition, and customs among the diaspora. She also expressed gratitude to Iceland for its support, which enables Serbs in Reykjavik to learn their mother tongue and thus preserve and pass on their heritage.

The Embassy and the Belgrade Children’s Cultural Centre donated books as a valuable gift for Serbian children in Iceland, thereby laying the foundation for our first library in Reykjavik.

We also expressed our gratitude through commemorative gifts to Helga Þórðardóttir, Deputy Mayor of the City of Reykjavik, and to Fróvi Jacobsen, Deputy Head of Fella- og Hólaskóli in Reykjavik, where classes of the Supplementary School of the Serbian Language are held.

The folklore group of the Serbian Association Ras from Oslo, through its dance, song, and traditional costumes, offered those in attendance a unique experience of Serbian tradition and cultural heritage.
