At the State Funeral of H.M. King Harald V, in addition to the official delegation of the Republic of Serbia led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, Serbia’s Crown Prince H.R.H. Alexander Karađorđević also attended the ceremony, accompanied by his wife.

“King Harald V, together with representatives of the Republic of Serbia, visited sites where Serbs had suffered, paying tribute to our victims as well, with the Norwegian and Serbian flags displayed side by side. This is but one small example of his contribution to our bilateral relations. President Vučić visited Norway in November 2022, when he was received by King Harald V with the highest state honours. The Royal Family also visited Belgrade in the 1960s and has served as one of the bridges between our two friendly countries,” Minister Đurić stated.

The funeral was also attended by H.R.H. Crown Prince Alexander and H.R.H. Crown Princess Katherine. In his letter of condolence, H.R.H. Crown Prince Alexander stated, among other things:

“His Majesty will be deeply missed by us all, but his memory will be cherished forever with great love and respect. He devoted his entire life to serving his people and his country, as a true role model and a genuine example of a monarch in a parliamentary monarchy. His reign was marked by the same motto as that of his father and grandfather - a motto that, in just a few words, says it all and best describes who Harald V truly was: ‘Everything for Norway’.”
