“LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS,” A HUMANITARIAN CONCERT OF NORWEGIAN–SERBIAN FRIENDSHIP

09. Dec 2025.
The Serbian Association “Tsar Lazar” from Drammen organized a humanitarian concert titled “Light in the Darkness” at Drammens Teater, dedicated to Mama Karashok, marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of German labor camps in Norway, in which more than 4,000 of our Serbian ancestors were interned

The packed auditorium was addressed by the mayors of Drammen and Karasjok, as well as by H.E. Dr Jasmina Mitrović Marić, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Kingdom of Norway.

The significance of the ceremony brought representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Directorate for the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region), Slađana Marković Stojanović and Miroslava Kaćurić, who also visited the Serbian language supplementary school in Oslo as well as the Church of St Basil of Ostrog.

The concert “Light in the Darkness” demonstrated a strong commitment to preserving the culture of remembrance, nurturing cultural heritage, and strengthening ties between the Serbian community in Norway and the friendly Norwegian people - an emphasis reflected both in the speeches and in the folklore performances of Serbian cultural and artistic societies from several cities and regions across Norway.

A particularly emotional moment was created by the performance of the ensemble “Fenečki biseri,” which traveled to Norway especially for this occasion.
